No 'poo'

Shortly before I started blogging was the time I decided (again) there were a few more steps I could go toward crunchy without being as extreme as family cloth, which I have mentioned a time or two to the "unbelievably not so crunchy outdoor survivalist" hubby. Over the past year I had heard quite a bit about Dr Bronners and more recently a bit about no'poo' shampoo. I decided one day I was going to try it! Why not? I have the no'poo' supplies and use them just about every day cleaning anyway. The idea from my understanding is to teach your body to make just the right amount of oils you need instead of stripping all the oils and then needing conditioner. I tried to take pictures everyday but this was also about the same time I started getting very stressed. After about a week and a half to two I just happened to see some Dr Bronners so I bought it and tried it a few times, love the stuff but it just isn't for my hair. Another day I was in a rush to get out the door and washed my hair with shampoo because I didn't have baking soda in the bathroom, it of course did as it normally did looked fine the next day but if I end up near any moisture it ends up looking oily in minutes. So this week I just had to go back to no'poo' I was in love and only in a matter of weeks.

How To No'Poo'

Wash 1Tbsp of Baking Soda mixed into a cup of water
pour it on and massage into your scalp

rinse out

Condition 1Tbsp of vinegar mixed into a cup of water

pour it on and massage into your scalp

rinse out

Does Vinegar really condition your hair? Yes, yes it does! How? I don't know LOL but when I do use it my hair is easy to comb through wet and when I don't well its not.

Changes(I have read about them but not tried them)
use a tea like chamomile instead of water
put a few drops of your favorite essential oil or honey into the conditioner

these can just add that scent some people need to know they are clean but also can have a different effect like pulling out natural highlights

Interesting

I thought of some random things to make a short blog about on Fridays I am lazy or just don't know what to blog about. Today its lazyness

Something with an interesting story

My mother-in-law wanted to crochet blankets for her grandkids born this year. She tried to learn and didn't do so hot so she had them make them at the quilters circle at work...She works in a prison so this and 2 jakets 2 bonnets and 4 booties were made for Esterella by inmates. She got 2 of the clothing sets because once she was born and they found out I had a girl they decided that the first set wasn't feminine enough. I love the quilt each square has the star pattern they tried to replicate with the blue squares. This is one of 2 gifts for Estrella that were made before she was born and even before we had even agreed on a name. I think the stars are special, she was destined to be a star!

Dealing with Stress

After parents left last week (they had been here for a visit and to meet my little girl for the first time) I came down with a cold(I forgot my vitamins the last part of the week they were here and we were going, going, going) Along with that and getting back into my daily routine and the daily stresses I deal with, something serious coming up was not what I needed, and of course is what I got.
My sister texted me that her son was med-flighted out because he got into the dogs epilepsy meds. He is doing well, back home and back to normal now, but at the time my family and the crew in the ER had thought he had taken 4X a fatal dose...I think I was extra stressed because when I did actually talk to my sister she seemed irrationally calm, I know it was part shock and part confidence in the medical staff(she works with them) That day was very cloudy and I just didn't have energy, didn't go shopping, didn't get dressed(horrible I know) and napped as much as the kids let me(I am blessed to have such good kids that will lay down with mommy all day if that's what she needs) That night I just couldn't stop my mind from going ridiculous places and after how tired I felt that day I realized I was depressed. The next day I didn't feel much better but we NEEDED food so I forced myself to get up, dressed, and out of the house (I know this will always make me feel better but why does it take so much energy and willpower to do it when you don't have too LOL) bought too much comfort foods, but hey, we have food now :D Last night my brain wouldn't stop again but I got up and played a video game to keep it occupied enough so it didn't take me off into the deep end again.
Fridays are my "Day off" meaning I don't have chores assigned so I only do what 'needs' done, so I planned yesterday we would go to the beach...of course today is the coldest and cloudiest it has been all week but we needed to get out. So after doing the chores that needed done I packed us a lunch and headed out. My oldest had a blast(he would probably have fun at the beach in the rain) the little one slept and I got out of the house and got some cloud filtered rays of light!

The Start

My very first blog!

I did a few vlogs while pregnant with my second child, I was horrible at remembering and keeping up to date, no promises this will be any better ;-)

I named my blog 'Random like me' because I know it will be. If you know me you know I am pretty random and pretty much imposible to keep on track. I got that from my family, my mom sister and I can hold 3 conversations and switch at random and never be lost. My poor dad is still, after nearly 30yrs of having girls, 3 conversations behind and always confused about what we are talking about.

About me:

  • I have been married for 5 years, of those we have spent over 2yrs apart due to deployments. We are both out of the Army now and happy to be spending as much time as possible with our little family.

  • I am presently a mother of two, boy first then a girl (King's Choice is what I have been told)

  • I have gone through spurts of trying to be healthier and crunchier not necessarily at the same time

See, Random, like me!
